Meet DELTA - Paws Behind Trained

DELTA is a 2-year-old female Shepherd mix who weighs 68 lbs. She is currently participating in our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. Delta was picked up as a stray. She's young, she's full of energy, and she's big. She's a Shepherd, she's black and some might even be too afraid to consider. Dogs like this have a hard time successfully out of the shelter. For Adopt Me!, she's the focus of exactly what we hope to help with our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. She is currently living with her inmate, every day, all day. They are a team! They work on obedience, composure, socialization, and having fun. We get to see how Delta reacts - to people, to other dogs, to sounds, to the yard cat - so we can build a complete and thorough assessment. She only has one trouble spot and that's her "exuberance" when meeting people and dogs. She'll need an experienced training hand, and, due to her strength, won't be suitable for small children. A fenced yard for exercise is a must. But, for the person who is looking for a good work ethic and a dog who is smart and challenging, here's your girl. These personality types can be greatly rewarding for those with the time and the effort. She also LOVES the water!
