Meet KEELEY - Paws Behind Bars Prison Dog Training Program

KEELEY is a 2-year-old female Goldendoodle. She is currently 65 lbs but is on an exercise plan to help her lose a few! Keeley came to us from a great home, but, as she grew older, so did her prey drive, and it got to be too much for the cats in the home. She is currently in our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program where she is charming everyone with her stunning good looks!

KEELEY is an active young dog. She is playing nicely with the other large dogs in the program and every now and then she tries to pay attention to her inmate for obedience commands. She'd much rather have fun and play. She is a bona fide Goldendoodle, heavy on the poodle piece. Although, to look at her, you'd swear she was a flat coat retriever! She is already house, leash, and crate-trained.

Her perfect home will be an active one where some of the family members are home more often than not. She's very social and loves company and attention. She's also very good in the car and loves to go for rides.

We are recommending older children as she plays hard. She will not be compatible with cats or small dogs. A fenced-in yard is a must as she needs the space to free run. With the right toy, she's good at entertaining herself.

In fairly short order, she'll have mastered her obedience commands and then she'll be ready for a home that's the right "fit."

IMPORTANT:  Please Keep in mind both the age and life expectancy of the dog or cat.  Our guiding principle for adoptions is to seek the right fit for our rescues and the families, including a home that can stay committed to the animal for life.

PLEASE NOTE:  If you’re interested in adopting, our process begins with the submission of our online application, or email us if you submitted an application within the last six months.  We review and schedule meet and greets (with approved applicants only) based on the order received.

Please see our FAQ page for the answers to any other questions you might have regarding the adoption process.
