Meet POLLY P POTTAMUS

POLLY P POTTAMUS is an 8-year-old female, Mastiff/Pittie mix. She currently weighs 83 lbs (down from 90), and we're working on that. She was surrendered to a veterinarian's office right before Christmas. Her medical condition was immediately assessed. Her weight was driven by a thyroid issue, and she's currently on medication. She had a large growth on her foot, which we have since removed.

Currently, POLLY P is in a great foster home. More than anything, she needed time to decompressm and that's exactly what her foster dad has allowed her to do. It is likely she had lived with one family for her years, and, all of a sudden, she was uprooted. You can tell from the endearing expression on her face, she's not fond of the camera or anything new, or that moves too fast.

Per her foster, once she knows you, she'll wag her tail. Yep, that's about it, but she doesn't see the need for anything more demonstrable. She'll tolerate a hug but only for the human's benefit; she says it does little for her. Now that the weight is dropping off, her waddle has developed into a good, brisk gait. Other dogs? She will tolerate them, but she doesn't need them. She simply stares at them and has no desire to play.

Polly P's perfect family? Someone to love her just as she is. She loves to go for walks and she'll readily put herself in her crate. She is house-trained. A glimmer of personality comes out at the dinner table. She'll come over and stare at you, expecting table food? For now, she's not getting any. Until she loses that hippopotamus figure, she's on a weight management diet. She'll need to stay on her thyroid medication.
