Meet ZEKE - Paws Behind Bars Trained

ZEKE is a 7-year-old, male Terrier/Cattle Dog mix. He's a nice size at 42 lbs. He's been with us for awhile as we're waiting for just the right home. At his age, and with his likely breed make up, Zeke is set in his ways. He is a graduate of our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. He is fine with other dogs as long as they're not too "busy," and, if he could talk, he prefers the ladies.

What does his perfect home look like? Zeke doesn't need a lot. He's not an affectionate dog in that he doesn't need hugs and kisses. He's not exceptionally active, so leisurely strolls are adequate for exercise. He doesn't have to have much company other than his one, best friend "person." He doesn't eat much, and his coat is easy to maintain. He doesn't need to be entertained. His life is simple. The highlight of his day is going for long strolls and then home to a cushy dog bed. He'll walk for hours as long as he also has time to stop and "smell the roses" (aka, likes to roll in anything smelly on the ground). Inside, it's all about the fine art of napping on a soft bed. Car rides are not a problem; he's a great co-pilot and rides nicely with a seat belt.

The secret to Zeke is that person who can accept him for who he is; anyone who's familiar with Jack Russells and/or Cattle Dogs knows what we mean. For all the things he doesn't need, he does need someone who will simply respect his space and outlook on life.
