Meet KAVIK - Paws Behind Bars Trained

KAVIK is a 2-year-old male Husky who weighs 62 lbs. He was surrendered to the shelter by very loving owners who knew their long work hours were not fair to their pup. He is registered, and he's been through obedience training. He is very outgoing and friendly, and he still has some puppy energy. He's beautifully marked and just a great dog.

Just to help polish up/advance his training skills, we decided to enroll him in our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. He will soon be ready for his AKC Canine Good Citizen test with his inmate handler. It is also giving us good insights on his social skills. He is excelling in all categories. He is happy, he's outgoing, he's smart, and he's eager to please. He can't get enough of all the human attention he's getting. And he's living in the same cell very nicely with a Dachshund in training.

Cats are probably a no, but everything else is fine. Now that he's getting comfortable in his environment, he's starting to talk. It was only a matter of time.

Anyone interested should be knowledgeable of the breed and comfortable with his thick coat. His home should be an active one where his owners are home more often than not to provide the companionship his first owners wish for him. While he grew up as an only dog, we have not seen any sign that he wouldn't love to have another dog to play with.
